This concept note presents the background, origins, objectives and celebration of the African Day of Youth Responsibility, in acronym ADYR.

Background, origins and objectives

From 2007 to 2017, every September 10th, PCYA-AF (COPAJE-AF) members celebrated the anniversary of their organization. This date does not only symbolize the birth of an organization but especially the celebration of the taking responsibility by young Africans to build a fraternal, peaceful, prosperous and competitive Africa.

Knowing that so many young Africans are fighting every day in various fields to improve the living conditions of the people and to bring progress in their country and on the African continent, their sense of responsibility, their efforts and their sacrifices deserve to be celebrated and encouraged. The founder of PCYA-AF, Anicet BURANGA, was wished to extend the celebration of September 10th to all African youth in order to:

  • Promote the action of young Africans that is not sometimes recognized at its true value
  • Promote the autonomy of young Africans
  • Sensitize all African youth about their duties and rights
  • Thank, congratulate and encourage young African leaders
  • Appeal to African states in order to put in place effective strategies and funds to support and accompany the action of African youth

At the initiative of the founder of PCYA-AF, September 10 of each year became and was named "THE AFRICAN DAY OF YOUTH RESPONSIBILITY (ADYR)".

Every 10th of September of each year, all the young who are fighting for the best living conditions and progress in Africa are invited to celebrate their contribution to the construction of a radiant Africa and to make their voice in accordance with the law of their respective countries.

It is up to all young Africans everywhere to take ownership of this noble initiative by freely and creatively organizing festivities and events to celebrate ADYR in their countries, organizations, companies, universities, etc.

Are encouraged all meetings and events organized by young leaders and other young Africans on the occasion of 10th September each year throughout Africa and beyond the borders of Africa.

Send us the report of your festivities of September 10th, along with pictures or short videos. We will publish it for free in our newsletter of September 10th.
